Meet your farmer
Hi, I'm Katie Monsma! I grew up on a small family farm in southern MD, and moved to Gloucester in 2021. I first started growing microgreens around 2018. My year round favorites are radish and broccoli microgreens. As a military spouse, I've moved around a lot, but since moving here I've been able to start growing an outside herb garden as well. My goal is to provide local, fresh, nutritious greens for my family and community. I've found the biggest perks of microgreens are their nutrition, versatility, year-round availability, and ease of use. Thanks for supporting my small business and family!
It all started with my toddler and sunflowers.
Though I've been growing microgreens off and on since around 2018, it wasn't until my son (age 2) ate all my baby sunflowers that I considered growing microgreens to sell. As a mother myself, I know the challenge it is to provide nutritious meals to picky eaters without spending a lot of time or money. More than just children, only 10% of Americans eat the recommended amount of vegetables. Microgreens are the perfect solution- easy to use, 4-40x more nutritious than mature greens, and available year round.
Give them a try today, and be part of the 10% who eat their veggies!
